Potty Training and Netflix?

So Ted has almost been nappy free for a week now and whilst he still has the occasional accident, he has come along way in such a short space of time and i am super proud of him.
He has exceptional communication skills for his age, as such we felt it was now time to ditch the Pampers and let him give the potty a go. We have an alarm on our phones that ring-out every half an hour to remind him to visit the potty, it seems to be working really well.

For those of you that don't know, Ted suffers from severe constipation so he has to take medication to help him go to the loo. This has made potty training that little bit harder as some days he struggles to go and others he has diarrhea, making it hard for him to control his bowel movements.

What we find works really well for those hard days is letting him sit on his potty and watching one of Netflix's 5 minutes episodes. For those of you don't know about the five minute episodes, last year Netflix conducted a survey with 7,000 parents and it revealed that 61 percent of them have to deal with their children attempting to delay bedtime by asking their parenting for just 5 more minutes.

Being awesome Netflix worked with DreamWorks to create three 5 minutes favorites of their Dinotrux animation, which is a short series of adventures from Ty-Rux and Revvit of Dinotrux.

My son is completely obsessed with Dinotrux and we find that by letting him watch one of the short episodes he can get what he needs to do done whilst kicking back and relaxing. Whilst our use of our 5 minute series isn't a conventional one it is one that has helped Ted feel happy and comfortable.

From the survey findings they created a fun graphic to show you the excuses kids use when stalling for my screen tie before bed, which one is your child? Ted is master negotiator:
