How To Make Outdoor Adventures More Accessible For Families #CP

Family outdoor adventures are how memories are made a lot of the time - think back to your own childhood and you’ll probably find at least some of your most cherished memories are based outdoors. However, actually getting everyone outdoors, with all the right stuff, and ready for an adventure isn’t always as easy as you might hope, and it can often get quite stressful just trying to make it happen.

The good news is that you can definitely make outdoor adventures more accessible, fun, and stress-free for the whole family (including you!), and it just takes a bit of research to find out how. With that in mind, keep reading for some useful ideas.

Choose Family-Friendly Locations

Not all outdoor spots are as good as others when it comes to spending time with your family, so it’s wise to research all the ones you’re considering to ensure you’ve found a place that caters for everyone you want to take - you’ll want to look for hiking trails with shorter loops for little legs, for example, or parks that have toilets and cafes (or at least a food truck), or campgrounds with family-friendly activities and so on.

Once you’ve got a better idea of what it is you need, not only can you be totally sure that wherever you’re booking or planning for is the right place, but it’s also going to narrow down your shortlist, and that’s always good for stress relief too.

Make Transportation Work For You

One of the biggest issues when it comes to a proper outdoor adventure is just getting there in the first place, and that’s often because you’ll have to take lots of gear, like pushchairs, bikes, coolers, perhaps tents, and so on - trying to cram all that into a standard car is never fun and can make the entire trip difficult before you even leave home.

That’s where having a capable, spacious, and reliable car is going to be the best solution - something like the Grenadier 4x4 is a great choice, for example. When you’ve got a vehicle like that to put everything in, you won’t have to leave anything behind, plus no one’s going to be cramped, and you might even be able to get to slightly more challenging places because you’re got a 4x4 rather than a standard car.

Keep It Flexible

One of the most important parts of a great family adventure is that you should keep it flexible where possible - yes, it’s good to have an itinerary because then you’re not going to run out of things to do, but equally, that itinerary should be flexible because you just never know what’s going to happen. What if the kids find some muddy puddles to jump in along the walk you’ve planned and they stay in one spot for ages? When you’re flexible, it’s not going to matter (and it might end up being the best part of the day).

To help you, set some small, achievable goals so you know what a few key points to hit are, and then just let the day happen as it happens, nice and naturally. That’s going to be a lot more fun and a lot less stressful.
