Wondering Why Your Kids Wake Up So Early #CP

What’s the worst thing that can happen to a busy dad who probably goes to bed a little too late each night? Night wakeups are obviously up there, but early mornings are another thing that you probably dread with every ounce of your being. You may have even tried countless tricks to teach your kids to stay in bed for just a measly extra hour.

But, what if we told you that addressing simple at-home problems could be more effective than any of these unsuccessful techniques? After all, if your kids are consistently waking up before the sun, something’s got to be causing the problem. Keep on reading to find out about just a few of the at-home culprits that, when addressed, could lead to the occasional lie-in at long last.

# 1 - Windows So Thin They Broadcast the Morning Chorus

The morning chorus is an arguably joyful time of day, but with that chorus generally starting as early as 4 AM during the height of summer, the joys on offer can quickly become replaced by hatred for that dreaded sound. Why? Because few things will wake your kids faster than hearing full-throated birdsong. If your windows at home are thin, it’ll literally sound like there’s a private music show in your child’s room every morning. Straight away, they’ll hop out of bed and be raring to go.

So, what can you do to save yourself? Well, investing in double glazed windows is a fantastic next step. As well as offering benefits like added insulation and improved appearances, double glazing is an amazing sound barrier.

While it might not entirely block out birdsong, it will, at least, mute the morning chorus enough to keep your kids sleeping for slightly longer.

# 2 - Daddy, It’s Cold Outside!
While the morning chorus is very much a summer problem, you may find that temperature becomes your nemesis during the winter months. After all, if your children’s rooms are chilly, they’re liable to sleep poorly and wake early, right before bringing their cold little bodies into your toasty warm bed!

Luckily, double glazing will help with this in itself, but you can’t rely on this alone to keep your kids warm enough to remain between their sheets. For that, you’ll want to take additional measures, which could include installing a smart thermostat that keeps the temperature toasty, or even simply reducing draughts through age-old techniques like carpeted floors and thick curtains.

# 3 - Symphonies in Your Pipes

The morning chorus might happen later during winter, but clanking pipes when your heating kicks in can wake children just as quickly.

Luckily, there’s plenty you can do if your children consistently wake with noisy radiators. Simply insulating your pipes can help reduce and mute any noises. You’ll also want to be sure to bleed your radiators regularly, thus reducing any pesky air bubbles and the noises they inevitably create!

Early mornings are a dad’s worst reality. Kiss them goodbye by addressing these home issues to keep your kids in bed for longer.
