3 Great Ways To Make A Basement Room More Comfortable #CP

If there’s a basement under your house, converting it into a usable room is usually the best way to go. Not only does this add a lot more value to your property, but it gives you a cozy and snug space to relax in - in theory. In reality, a lot of basement conversions leave you with an empty room that feels echoey and even a little bit creepy. And if that’s what’s happened with your basement room, we’re here to help! Check out the three methods below for making a space like this a lot more comfortable.

Add Color and Texture

Basement rooms can be pretty bland and boring, so be sure to add plenty of color and texture to bring life into the space. Use patterned and/or brightly colored wallpaper, make sure the flooring feels good under your feet, and use plenty of soft furnishings to both absorb sound and make the room feel a lot cozier.

You can also use decor like this to cover up any exposed piping or wiring, which also tends to be common when it comes to the basement. You don’t want these being the first things you see whenever you step down into the room!

Let Some More Light in

If the basement is dark - which often happens when you have a no natural light space - you’re going to need to let some more of this missing light in. And you can do that by either popping a window into the room itself, which isn’t always possible, or by placing down some walk on glass floors in its ceiling.

This can let the light from the room above it, which is often the kitchen, work its way down into the basement and keep it well lit throughout the day. And voila! There goes the need to try and fit some windows into a space that has very little outdoor exposure.

Make Sure it Doesn’t Feel Empty

Empty basement rooms aren’t inviting at all. They’re a little cold to go into, and they often leave you feeling a bit uneasy. That’s not what you want for your own basement conversion, so make sure the room isn’t empty and has no chance to feel that way either! Make it look as busy as you want it to be!

Fill the room with furniture, dynamic decor, and plenty of fun stuff to do. Make the space an office or a studio, or turn it into a family game room or a mini home cinema. Whatever you use the space for, make sure it brings your family together and always ensures you have a good time when you’re in it.

Does your home have a basement room in it? Then let’s make sure it’s one of the ebt rooms in the whole house! Make it more comfortable, cozy, welcoming, and full of life. Use the tips above to start making a difference and help yourself create the basement room of your dreams.
