If you are looking at buying a new car then you need to make sure that it doesn’t have any of these 5 problems.
Rust
Anything on your car can be fixed, or even replaced. The main question is, should you make the effort to do it? When it comes to rust, the answer is usually a resounding no. Even though rusted panels can be refitted, they can be both pricey and time-consuming. Rust on the frame usually means that the bedrock of the car is rotting away. Replacing the frame of your car, even if you just do part of it, runs the risk of weakening the car in general. Even though some rust is to be expected with a used car, if you spot signs of excessive rust or if you see that there are bits of metal that are flaking off then this is a major red flag.

Funky Smells
Buying a smelly car is a bad idea. If you notice that there is a strange smell in the trunk of your car then this can indicate a much bigger issue. If possible, you need to avoid cars that have the smell of mildew or mould. If you can smell this then this indicates that the car has experienced flood damage and this can eat away at your budget. Even if you are getting a good deal on the car, you may find that the money you spend trying to fix the issue just isn’t worth it.
Bad Financing
A lot of used car dealerships tend to offer their form of financing. Sure, this option can be handy, but at the same time, it is usually easier for you to obtain your own. You can go through a bank or a private lender to secure this and most of the time, you will be preapproved. The great thing about this is that you won’t have to play all the back-and-forth games with your used car dealer and this can work in your favour. Just be mindful of any financing packages that go beyond 6 years. If they do then you will be paying a small fortune in interest and this is the last thing you need.
Lack of Maintenance
If a car has not been maintained properly then this is another red flag. The car may have been sitting without any vital fluids for quite some time and this can lead to problems under the hood. If the tyres look a little worn then this isn’t a cause for concern. You can easily hire mobile tyre fitters to come and replace the wheels for you.
Mismatched Paint
If you see that the paint is mismatched then this is a major sign that a repair has been made. If you don’t know what repair it was or if the seller is not disclosing this information then this is a sign that they are hiding something from you. You need to be wary of purchases like this as it may be that someone is trying to take advantage of you.
