However, Boris Johnson recently outlined measures for coming out of lockdown. While it may take a while for them to come to fruition, at least it gives people hope that this will all be over soon!
With that in mind, here are four things for dads to look forward to when quarantine is finally over. Hopefully, the thought of the following will keep you mentally healthy and make the next few weeks less challenging.
Time Alone
Okay, now this may come as a shock considering you’ve spent the last two months at home not doing much! However, regardless of whether you’ve been working or furloughed, you’ve probably been surrounded by family. The silver lining to this health crisis is the fact that loved ones are closer than ever. Still, not every father has a man cave they can slip away to when they need ‘Me’ time. Guys love personal space, and it’s hard to find right now.
Thankfully, when people can legally go outside, there will be more opportunities to unwind alone.
A Drink With Friends
Everybody is missing walking to the local pub and having a pint with friends. If you don’t believe me, listen to the 2,426 people interviewed by yorkshirepost.co.uk and its sister newspapers. Maybe it’s a Yorkshire thing, but 57.56% of the men and women surveyed said they couldn’t wait to mix with mates again, second only to seeing loved ones. And it’s hard to argue!
When times are tough, you need your friends to make you laugh and smile and forget about life for a while. There’s no better place to do it than in a beer garden, men. Or at home if you have been crafting you own gin, win or homemade beer like me!
A Football Match
It’s going to be an incredible moment to share with the kids, friends, and strangers to your right and left.
Back To School
No, not you - the kids. Opening schools is a contentious debate currently. But, when children can go back safely, it will be a momentous occasion for Dads around Britain. Let’s face it - it’s been years since fathers have been in full-time education, yet you’re expected to take on the role of a teacher. Unfortunately for some, it hasn’t gone to plan because the kids seem to know more than the adults!
Although doing homework and re-learning algebra is a necessary evil, it’s an art best left to the pros.
What are you looking forward to after lockdown?
