Some Great Ideas For A 'Dad Weekend' | #CP

As has been discussed on this site before, it’s hard to set aside time for yourself when you become a father. When your children are babies, they need constant supervision. When your children get older… they still seem to need constant supervision. Still, you can set time aside for yourself as a dad, and you should, for that matter. Whether it’s a 30-minute bath or quickly catching up on your favourite Netflix show, you’re allowed the luxury of relaxation. In fact, you should view it as a necessity. So, with that concept in mind, these are some great ideas for a ‘dad weekend’.

Go on a road trip.

The first great idea for a ‘dad weekend’ is to go on a road trip. You should message a few of your friends, decide on a destination (or multiple destinations), and hit the open road. This is a great way to get out of the house, explore new places, and catch up with old friends. No matter your age, a road trip is always fun. Blasting out a cheesy playlist, eating some tasty snacks, and admiring the scenery rolling past the windows are all of the great things about a road trip. And that’s just the beauty of the journey itself. Visiting new towns or cities could be a fun way to spend the weekend, too. Perhaps you could even go camping if you want to get away from the noise of the real world.

Of course, you might want to go on a road trip on your own. It’s understandable that every dad wants a bit of alone time on occasion. You could even get into biking if that appeals to you; hitting the open road on a motorcycle is a liberating feeling. Taking lessons and getting qualified is worth it for the opportunity to cruise the road on your motorbike every time you have a free weekend. You might want to do some research on motorbike insurance once you’re qualified to ride one. Owning a bike can be costly, but it’s important to have coverage to protect yourself and your vehicle. If you fancy the idea of road-tripping on a regular basis, then this could be a great option for you.

Try rock climbing with some friends.

You might also want to try rock climbing with some friends. That could be a great way to spend the weekend. If you’ve never been rock climbing before, then you’re missing out. If you have been rock climbing before, then what other incentive do you need? It’s a fun experience. It’s a great skill to master, and you’ll also have the opportunity to relax and socialise with your mates. Plus, it’s a great form of exercise. If going to the gym doesn’t appeal to you and you’re not a fan of running in the park, then rock climbing could be the physical activity you need.

Chill at home.

Of course, one of the best ‘dad weekends’ is simply relaxing at home. Obviously, you’ll have to let your kids know that you want a little bit of peace and quiet. Hopefully, they’ll understand. You could play some video games for a few hours, watch a few films with a pack of lager, or simply read a good book. Gaming is always a great option if you want peace and quiet; once you put on those headphones, you can shut yourself off from the world for a little while.
