6 Mistakes To Avoid On Your Next Family Road Trip | #CP

Family road trips can be the ideal time to bond and make memories, plus you can take a trip somewhere fun you’ve never been before. However, there are a few mistakes you’ll want to avoid on your next family road trip. Take a look so that you and your loved ones can have the best time:

Not Planning Stops

Planning stops beforehand is key for both your sanity and any kids you’re traveling with. You will all need to use the toilet and stretch your legs, so taking stops into account as you plan your timetable is essential. Remember, young kids will want to stop more than you

Forgetting The iPad

Your kids won’t be able to enjoy the scenery the entire time, no matter how many times you wish they would. Taking a fully charged iPad with their favorite programs downloaded already will help to keep them occupied should they get bored. A phone could also work, and even a car DVD player.

Failure To Make Sure The Car Is Reliable

Making sure the car is reliable is essential. You might even want to have it looked at by a professional so you can have peace of mind before you set off. If it’s not, buying a new car from a place like Motormill should be your first port of call. Don’t set off in a car you don’t feel 100% safe in. Rent one if you must! Your car being safe is one of the most important aspects of a good road trip, so don’t cut corners here.

Not Stocking Up On Drinks and Snacks

Having an abundance of drinks and snacks is uber important too. They will keep the kids happy and quiet, and you can’t always be sure when you’re going to see a rest stop. By making sure you have these things already on you, you won’t have to endure frantically looking for somewhere to get drinks and snacks.

Missing The Scenic Routes

Missing the scenic route means missing some beautiful scenery - one of the best parts of a road trip! You’ll be able to see different plants, trees, and animals, and you may be able to show your kids something cool. Although it might take longer, driving the scenic route will be so much more enjoyable.

Not Stopping To Rest

You’re going to need to stop and stretch your legs. Don’t try to rush the drive so you can get to where you’re going faster, or everybody will suffer. Leave early enough so that you can have multiple stops. See if you can find a park or somewhere to play for a little while before you continue on your journey. You’ll be glad you did!

Avoid these mistakes on your next family road trip and you’ll all have an amazing time. You’ll have a peaceful drive, see some great sites, and have the opportunity to bond like never before. Leave your own family road trip tips below!
