Designing the ultimate master bedroom

Many of us dads will probably be aware of how it’s the kids’ bedtime battles that tend to take up most of our time.

But in the rare moment where we get a little peace, why not have a think about how you can maximise your own sleeping arrangements through having a master bedroom makeover.

Not only are master bedrooms pretty much the only area of the home that are relatively off-limits to the little ones, but they also give us chance to treat our partners to our own style-friendly DIY endeavours!

So here are a few items to include in your master bedroom makeover that show how everything from a metal bed frame to a tastefully positioned houseplant can really ramp up the style stakes.

Colour choices

As we’ll be sharing our master bedrooms with our partners, we’ll want to keep our colour choices relatively restrained. Whilst beige is hardly the most inspiring colour, there are plenty of other on-trend neutral hues that can keep the bedroom feeling light, airy, and gender-neutral.

Grey of the trendiest neutral tones of the past few years. And whether you team it up with a sleek metal bed frame, or contrast it with some bright pop art posters, there’s nothing like grey for adding a contemporary and chic look to even the fussiest of bedrooms. Adding a splash of colour through putting up a painting, family portrait or even your own fun pop art can make it feel more warm and homely.

Modern textures

A similar approach can be applied to the furniture and soft furnishings in the master bedroom. Rather than anything over frilly, think about how some rugged Scandinavian textures in everything from bedside rugs to pillow cases can provide a sleek sense of modern chic.

And keeping the bedroom furniture streamlined with soft wooden tones in bedside tables and even some of the metal bed frames are more failsafe ways to deliver a modern master bedroom look to keep both partners happy!

Light and life

Once you’ve established your colour schemes and furniture choices, it’s time to get creative and think about how to use some simple touches to really add the wow factor.

From clever tricks like using extra mirrors to make a small bedroom feel bigger, to adding a few trendy houseplants like ferns and aloe vera for extra life, it all goes to show how it’s not just metal bed frames that can really make a master bedroom come alive!
