Sky's NOW TV Kids Pass Review

Last week our family were lucky enough to be asked to put Sky's NOW TV Box to the test. Of course we obliged, as we had heard great reviews from family and friends that are already using the box to entertain their little ones.

So for those of you not yet familiar with NOW TV, it is a non-contract video on demand service. NOW TV streams all its Sports, Movies, Box Sets and TV Shows across loads of devices over a WIFI connection. You can sign-up by ordering one of their four passes, which you can mix and match entertainment, movies, kids and sports passes as often as you want with no contract. You can even make your TV a Smart TV with the NOW TV Box, with no installation and no need to switch your broadband, just plug it in and you are all set.

Buying a NOW TV box costs just £14.99 and as you can see from the image below you will receive the following items, it isn't rocket science to set-up and install. That was one of things i personally found great about the box, the level of information provided for the set-up phase was spot-on. The last thing you need when you invest in any tec is hard to follow instructions. The NOW TV box or us was very easy to connect, as all we had to do was plug in the power unit, plug in the HDMI cable into both the box and the TV and then insert my broadband cable.

Once i had set-up the box i was prompted jump online and set-up a NOW TV account. This we relativly easy to do, however it is at this stage i was asked to purchase the passes i wanted for the service. At this stage you are require to add all your personal details and your account details.

For many of the passes you are offered a two week free trial, so please make the most of the offer as it's two weeks free entertainment! Browsing the options available to me it was made very clear that i could cancel the service at any time, as well as having the option to add/mix any of the passes i wanted. I thought this was rather good as when the football season is over some days might want to sacrifice their sports passes for another!

The Kids Pass, which is the one we have been using for a week now, is only £2.99 a month! This is an incredible offer, considering your children get to watch programs from channels such as ickelodeon, Nick Jr, NickToons, Cartoon Network, Boomerang, Cartoonito, CBeebies, CBBC, and Milkshake!.

To give to you an idea of what programs are on offer on these channels i have created a list of the most popular kids TV shows available through the Kids Pass:
  • SpongeBob SquarePants
  • Peppa Pig
  • Thomas the Tank
  • Batman the Brave
  • Paw Patrol
  • The Powerpuff Girls
  •  Adventure Time
  • The Amazing World of Gumball
  • Dora the Explorer
  • Fireman Sam
  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
  • Masha and the Bear
  • Charlie and Lola
  • Sam and Cat
  • Fifi and the Flowerpots
  • Transformers Prime
  • Bena and Holly's Little Kingdom
  • Make Way For Noddy
  • Big Time Push
  • In the Night Garden
  • Deadly 60
  • iCarly
  • The Tom and Jerry Show
That is one hell of a list ladies and gents. I thought that is also worth mentioning that once you have purchased a pass you can give three devices access to NOW TV, so you can take it on the go on the I-pad or on your mobile phone. Here s what the NOW TV kid section looks like:

So once we had everything up and running i had the challenge of keeping my two boys entertained on a cold and wet morning. The first program we switched on was Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as it is my son's favourite show at the moment. He only gets to watch one or two episodes a week as we watch it on Milkshake TV on a weekend, so you can imagine how excited he was to be able to watch episode back to back.

One program that we had never watched before having now TV was Batman the Brave. For those of you that aren't familiar with the show it sees Batman teaming up with a different superhero each week, as you can imagine the show also takes on a mixture of villains as well. I know Ted loved it as he hasn't stopped asking for it this week, but i actually like watching it as well as it is witty and visits some of the best loved characters from my childhood.

We also checked-in with Thomas the Tank as this is Charlie's favourite program at the moment. Both boys sat down to watch the episodes and whilst it is not the originals i grew-up with, the episodes are fun, colourful and entertaining.

After spending an hour or two watching some of our best loved shows we decided to take a break in our rocket ship pop-up tent to do some reading and have some lunch.

After a nice long break we decided to go with a crowd pleaser... Paw Patrol. As you can see i had some very excited and wriggly children on my hands:

We have continued to enjoy streaming a number of kids programs throughout the week. The box has now replaced our usual schedule of watching Milkshake TV in the morning. I would honestly recommend the NOW TV box to any parents that would like to have an archive of top kids programs at their disposal.

Why not follow Now TV on Facebook or Twitter, to be kept up to date with their latest news and special offers:
