What Father's Day Means To Me

It’s almost June (time flies!), which means Father’s Day is coming up and us Dads get a chance to step back from everyday life for the day and appreciate what we’ve got. SHEilds recently asked me about how I’ll be spending the day and what it means to me...

For me Father’s Day is all about spending as much time with family as possible. Whilst it is always nice to receive presents, there is no better feeling than spending time and laughing with your family for one day.

I always try and split my time on Father’s Day, spending half a day with my own kids and then for the rest of the day visiting my father. Father’s Day is that one day of the year when it is ok to write soppy things in cards and spoil your Dad rotten, even if they hate it, they certainly appreciate the time, effort and energy but into visiting and gifts. I’ll certainly be cracking open a beer and putting my feet up at the end of the day too...

How will you be spending the day? Do you make a big deal out of it or just let it pass by? I’ll be featured in SHEilds eBook being released in June, which will have mine and other bloggers thoughts on the day, along with tips on keeping your kids healthy and safe throughout the year, so keep an eye out for that!

So i thought i would share with you a couple of great/cheap ideas that you should consider for this Father's Day:

Revisit a memorable place
Whether that is a seaside resort, a restaurant or their birthplace, visiting a memorable location provides a sense of nostalgia for your dad and a fun trip out!

Buy his favourite board game
He might already have it, but i am sure you can find an up to date version. Spending the night in with a couple of drinks and a good old fashioned board game is one way to get in your Father's good-books.

Movies
Stay in the night and watch a classic with him or take him out to the cinema (2for1) to treat him to a box office hit and a bag of popcorn.

Failing the above you can always get in touch with granddad and grandma to ask about childhood sweets, books and food!
