Actor Enzo Cilenti urges people of Harrogate to Pedal for Parkinson’s in 2016

Film and TV actor Enzi Cilenti is encouraging people from the local area to Pedal for Parkinson’s in 2016, as registration for the event opens today.

Following his father’s diagnosis with Parkinson’s in 2012, Enzo, recently seen in Game of Thrones, has become a keen supporter of Parkinson’s UK, taking part in numerous cycle challenges for the charity, including climbing to the top of Mount Ventoux in France on a tandem with his father in 2015.
So far he has raised almost £14,000.

Enzo, who is the Champion of Cycling for Parkinson’s UK in 2016, explains: “My father and I like to cycle as much as we can. He finds that exercise like cycling helps him manage his symptoms, so we often go out on a tandem which is a great way to spend time together.

“I know first-hand just how shocking a diagnosis can be, and how people, including my dad, struggle with the condition day to day.

“That’s why I want to encourage as many people as possible to Pedal for Parkinson’s UK in 2016 – it’s a great way to exercise and raise vital funds at the same time.”

The one day event, Pedal for Parkinson’s – Harrogate, takes place on Sunday 3 July. Following great success in previous years, it will be the third time the charity has hosted the event in the area. For the first time, the charity will also host a sponsored walk on the same day, meaning all members of the family can get involved.

The Pedal series is made up of four events in specially chosen locations - Stratford-upon-Avon, Harrogate, Stirling and the Isle of Wight.

Registration is now open for all four events, which offer a variety of route distances and are designed for cyclists of all ages and cycling ability.

The entry fee is £20 for adults (£10 for 11-15 year olds). There is no minimum sponsorship required to take part, but the charity is hoping to raise over £110,000 from the four events, so suggests cyclists aim to raise at least £100.

All cyclists will receive an exclusive Pedal for Parkinson’s finisher’s medal.
