This week we got the chance to review the Go MINI Night Challenge Raceway set, courtesy of Golden Bear Toys. Available from Argos for £49.99, the Raceway set could be a great gift for your little boy or girl this Christmas...
When you are looking to spend around £50 on a gift for a special occasion then you obviously want to make sure that the product you get is worth the money you fork-out at the till. Well from my experience the race track is well packed and is very well protected, which is always reassuring should you opt for it to be delivered!
So in the nice MINI branded box your little ones will receive two cars, their headlines light-up when moving around the track. A really cool feature which means that they can race in the dark!
Besides the MINI branded white track you also get the two race control, with a boost button! Branded finish signs and coloured barriers. It worth noting here that the product does not included batteries, you will need to buy or find eight AA batteries. The control panel is easily open with a small star screw driver, so placing the batteries is secure and easy.
One of the best feature and it's USP is that the track has a spilt spped function. So those over three can race and follow the action slowly on slow speed, this will reduce the amount of action and crashes. But for those older kids cracking it on high speed and using boost is rather fun, but they run the risk of their car coming off the track and loosing the race.
The multiple player and speed features are easily switch on the control panel! The control panel is also where the controls are plugged in, the controls only come with a short lead so it means that you can not move far from the control panel.
Another fantastic feature is the flexibility of the track layouts, we firstly opted for the basic layout in an attempt to familiarise ourselves with the track. It took me two minutes to click the track into place as a simple overview was given on the box. Playing the simple track layout on low speed was enjoyable and it looked fantastic!
We then moved onto the more complex track layout that was advertised on the box. This meant that we added all the barriers and had the tracked raised in places. As you can see from the images it is dynamic layout that is a test for those wanting test their skills on the high speed mode.
The bridge and corners really do make for fun viewing and playing. I came off multiple times when using the boost button on the controls. After a minute or two we both settled into our stride and the race was truly on.
Whilst we didn't explorer another track layout but you do have the scope to create your own should you be feeling adventurous. We really enjoyed playing with the race track and i would definitely recommend it to any parent looking for a gift for either Christmas or a Birthday present for under £50!
