Quick Halloween Fire Safety Tips

I love ghouls, ghosts and witches more than most to be honest, Halloween is a tradition i can really get excited about. I am even attending a scare night on Friday at Scare Kingdom... it is going to be awesome and frightening at the same time!

A lot of you would have heard about the terrible accident Claudia Winkleman daughter had last year whilst wearing a Halloween costume. What happened was tragic and if that happened to one of my sons i would be distraught  to say the least.

Whilst i read that the majority of Halloween costumes are safe and tested, it seems that the super cheap costumes, whilst safe, might not comply with relevant safety standard and regulations, including the European Directive EN71 for fancy dress items.

So if you want to protect your children this year do not buy cheap costumes, buy quality costumes and look for retailers that stock tested and safe outfits. Replace candles with LED lights and do not let your children anywhere near open fires or fireworks.

You should also consider following recommend supplier and fire safety advice when wearing/buying any costumes:

Other points to consider:
- Avoid wearing flammable fabrics
- Look for flame resistant or flame retardant properties
- Check that costumes conform to all relevant safety standard and regulations, including the European Directive EN71 for fancy dress items
 - Avoid billowing or long-trailing features, which can easily catch alight on naked flames

Here are a couple of other guides you consider reading should you be trick or treating or having your own Halloween party this year:

If you don't want kids coming to your door  this Halloween then you should consider putting up a sign to inform parents not to come knocking. You will usually find that your local police service have designed their own signs that you can print off and use. This is ours for West Yorkshire:

It has been simply incredibly generous with you to provide openly what exactly many individuals would’ve marketed for an eBook to end up making some cash for their end, primarily given that you could have tried it in the event you wanted.
