Weekly Round Up: Christmas, Darts & Star Wars

As you can imagine, the festive holidays means it has been an exceedingly busy time for the many folk including myself and the family. We have had a fantastic Christmas with the kids being well behaved, the kids being spoilt with hundreds of presents and me having an entire week off work.

As many of you know i have a full time jobs and blog as and when i can, which can make it hard for me to say and write everything i want easily. So moving forward i have taken inspiration from Morgana over at offeeworksleeprepeat.com and have decided to start writing a bite-size weekly round-up post. In which i will talk about everything i have loved, watched and heard that week, as well as sharing my favourite joke, tweets, product and even give a couple of shout-outs to a couple of bloggers and or follows that have made my week.

Watched

As many of you know i am a member of the Netflix Stream Team, which basically means i get the opportunity to attend events, share news on new shows and more importantly i get to watch all the great Netflix shows and i get to share my honest opinions with you/a like minded audience.

Recently we have been getting stuck into Sense 8,  Mascots, Black Mirror and Scream and i would recommend them all. I like watching shows that have the shock factor, i want them to be random and gritty which in a nutshell means i like awkward and uncomfortable viewing. I am not the kind of guy to sit and watch the soaps as i need a little more thrills and spills in my life that another silly tiff and affair with the man in the post office!

The next show on my watch list isn't a Netflix original program but it is one that was made my BBC America., a show that i would label goofy: Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency is a science-fiction detective series based on the Douglas Adams novel series of the same name. Dirk relies on the universe to unravel mysteries based on the 'interconnectedness of all things, he finds a unwilling partner in Elijah Wood who plays Todd. The story starts off completely random with a shed load of thing happening for what seems like no reason at all and then episode by episodes the randomness unravels.

I have only watched five episodes so i still have a good number to get through, but i would highly recommend it. Don't just take my word for it have a look at the trailer:

Loved

Stars Wars

We went to watch Star Wars: Rogue One at the Everyman Cinema in Harrogate this week and whilst i am not the biggest Star Wars fan this movie was defintley one of the better one. Even if some of the scenes did leave a bad taste in my mouth. The very last scene was something special in light of recent events. We would give it 4/5 stars!

Darts!

Whilst i have loved spending time with the kids, family and friends i have to share my appreciation for the World Darts Championship on Sky Sports. I love the darts, so much in fact i go to watch it at Leeds Arena every year. Admittedly i don't get to watch the darts as much as i would like, but over the holidays i have been enthralled by the darts, watching since December 15th!

Tonight is the final and the world's top two players will fittingly contest the William Hill World Darts Championship. Gary Anderson, who is my favourite and world number one Michael van Gerwen do battle at Alexandra Palace. I am currently sat here writing this post whilst watching the darts on my i-pad!

So over the holidays @Fitzaroo1978 kept me entertained as she managed to get through Christmas with both her mother and mother in-law. That lady deserves a medal!

Product of the week

One game i have particlary liked this week was the crazy bee game. It was given to my toddler as a gift for Christmas, but we have only got around to playing it today. You basically strap on a bee headband to your head, and pick up the magnetic balls without using your hands! The aim of the game is to see who can collect all of their coloured balls first, or race to collect as many as possible until all of the balls are gone.

Why do i think this game is good? Well my toddler laughed! Plus is good for developing fine motor skills by building up reaction speeds and coordination, it teaches the little ones about magnets and encourages problem solving.

Mini-Rant

Why does every company i have ever used feel the need to send me both a Christmas and New Years message!

My New Years Resolutions

So as the New Year is underway i thought i would lastly share with you three of my personal/blogging goals for the year:

1. Operation Six-Pack
Joking, but i have the Wedding in August so i do need to slim down this dad bod a little.

2. More Posts
Towards the back-end of last year i admittedly wrote too many product-centric posts. Whilst it is nice to review and test some brilliant products, i feel like i haven't been able to write much around my experience of fatherhood as much. This is important to me as this was the reason i started my blog in the first place!

3. Worry Less
Whether it is at work, on the blog or at home i am natural worrier, i can't help it. Whilst i know i can not easily change my mindset i am going to make all the effort to say yes to more things regardless of the what ifs!

Thanks for reading folks! Have a splendid New Year folks i hope that 2017 brings you all the love and happiness in the world. For those of you with toddlers like me i did post this the other day:
