3 Quick and Silly Meals for Busy Parents

From the age of 2 and a half up to 12 years old, your kids will no doubt have a fussy stage when getting them to eat well anything is a challenge, let a lone good ole veggies and wholesome meals.

And as modern day parents we all have those days where we frantically finish work and head over to collect the kids from school and then on to extra curricular activities, whether that be football, dance or FLL (First Lego League… I wish we had that when I was younger!). Whatever you child’s been up to they are bound to come home starving and nagging you about what’s for dinner.

Here are our top 3 meal ideas to give you some inspiration for fun and silly foods your kids will love.

Toadstool Salad

This fun and imaginative Toadstool salad is great for lunch or snack. Made with hard-boiled eggs, tomato and mayo dots, on a bed of lettuce and cucumber, this is a quick and fun meal. Your kids could also help you prepare this one, and inspire your youngsters to try new things. If your little one liked the recent film hit ‘Trolls’ then you could always call this Troll’s Salad to get them excited!

Prepare by hard-boiling your eggs in advance and keeping them in the fridge until you’re ready to make up the salad. This meal is also ideal for lunchboxes.

Womlets

A fun play on omelettes, these womlets filled with tasty veggies, they taste great and look really appealing even to the veggie-shy. This perfect balanced meal for breakfast, lunch or tea is made from eggs, mixed peppers and spring onion and Gruyere or a cheese of your choice, your child will be getting protein, dairy and plenty of vitamins and nutrients. It’s also a great way of using up leftover veggies.

Peel the pear leaving two peel cuttings as the penguins wings, melt some good quality chocolate and brush on with a pastry brush. Add chocolate drops for the eyes (white and then milk) and use a trimming of carrot for the nose. These cool little dudes are a sure-fire way of getting your kids to tuck in to some fruit.
