Home Renovation Week Five

In the past five weeks every single room has been transformed completely. In two weeks we have had the walls skimmed and painted. Leaving us with only three bedrooms to clear and paint by the 9th of January; the carpets go down on the 9th so we have to have everything painted and tidied.

So over the weekend we cracked on with the tiling (as you can see). I have never tiled before but it wasn't that hard to learn, it was easy to layout the main tiles and as long as we followed the work-surface we were able to keep a good line.

We haven't yet cut the tiles that need cutting for the awkward bits, this will likely be done over the coming days.

We had the painters in to sort the coving, skirting boards and painting of the ground floor and hallways. This saved use a shed-load of time and energy. We would have usually have done the painting but with it being Theo's first birthday we just did not have the time.

The team have also spent a considerable amount of time in the back-gardening. Chopping down the over-growth and removing unwanted bricks, boulders and random old dog toys.

We have also had the old gad fire taken out and converted into a coal fire. All we need to do now is find a coal-grate to fit our fire and boom we will have a coal fire. I am planning on taking down a couple of the old trees in the garden so i want to use the wood on the fire. That means somewhere down the line i will need to buy/build a coal and log store somewhere close-by.

Over Christmas we plan on having everything completed. That includes painting, finishing off all the little projects, dusting, cleaning and hoovering ready for the the carpets on the 9th.

Whilst we haven't yet made an official moving in day yet, i can only assume that we will begin the moving in process on that weekend. We have out lives backed-up in a garage and two rooms so the quicker we can get moved the quicker our lives can get back to normal.

Looking good, mate! It's always nice to see pics of home makeovers. Hope you don't leave out the roof though as that can be really crucial. Repairing is always much cheaper than replacing so I definitely recommend you check out http://www.findleyroofing.co.uk if you have a chance.
