My Shed - sourcing electricity

Last weekend i worked on supplying the new shed with power, a task that required significant effort, skill and concentration. We wanted to install a light and have rockets for the lawnmower and a tumble dryer to save space in the kitchen.

We were able to draw power thought an old socket originally installed as power for our old boiler. After drilling through the wall, which was amazingly thick and resistant we managed to feed cable from the interior wall through to the garden.

Feeding the cables down the exterior walls were then moved onto digging up a path for the wire - digging up gravel and paving slabs we were able to bury the wire deep enough to protect it from the elements and the dog! Feeding the cable though to the shed we drilled hole in the base of the left hand side of the shed threading the cable though until we had enough length to play with inside.

As an alternative option, if you wanted to get really fancy with your electricity, you could look into replacing a roof with solar panels.

As you can see from the pictures below we installed the light, socket and light switch throughout the shed feeding power where needed. Once it was all connected were sat back and turned on the lights... its really nice to have a space in which we can reply on for storage and shelter!

Find out how i up cycled an old shed and i built the shed-base for this shed.
