Create a Mistake Free Zone

This is best used on hobbies you’d like your child to share with you. You might want to show them how to play football, or how to paint tabletop miniatures, or how to use an original XBOX controller. 

No matter what though, take your time, keep the atmosphere feeling fun and easy, and remember that mistakes should be impossible right now. 

While it may be a little frustrating and a test of patience to answer all of their questions, or walk them through the instructions over and over again, you’re trying to fan the flames of their love here. 

Let them use the wrong colour on that miniature soldier’s uniform. Let them practice kicking the ball a bunch of different ways before they get it anywhere near the goal. It’s a lot more fun to pick up new things and give them a go when you’re allowed to go with the flow! 

Buy Them Something Special

Kids love surprises, especially if those surprises mean they get a new toy to play with! As such, why not buy them a cool and interesting bit of merch, game, or comic from the same series? 

If you want your child to love the same football team you do, buy them a shirt they can wear for the game that’s coming up over the weekend.
