Creative Ways To Declutter Your Space #CP

Living with less shouldn't be as hard as it may seem due to its many benefits. From having less to clean, staying organised, and staying within your budget, it is not surprising that many people adopt a minimalist lifestyle. But, the key to minimal living is decluttering. So, are you considering the minimalistic style for your home? Here are creative ways to declutter your space to enjoy the perks of living with less.

  1. Organise your utensils

Organising your kitchen may seem like a challenge when you have things laying around, and your cabinets are disorganised. A significant cause of your kitchen clutter are your utensils. Therefore, you should take the time to keep them organised. First, you can divide them into various groups, such as ovenware, storage bowls, plates, glassware, and so on. Next, find dedicated spaces for each group in your kitchen. This way, you won't have to spend so much time looking for them and prevents the possibility of leaving your kitchen in a mess. The entire process will become much faster and effortless.

  1. Examine your home like a first-time visitor

It's all too easy to "forget" how your home seems to a new visitor. Viewing your home as a first-time visitor can help you see your home in a different light and reveal ways to tidy up, and make your space feel clean and minimal. Take a moment to evaluate your home from the view of a first time visitor to find out areas that need cleaning.

  1. Create storage

The truth is, closet space is limited in most homes. Therefore, it is vital to create storage solutions for various items such as your kids' toys and your seasonal apparel. Although you may want to keep your seasonal items in your closet, this may instantly create a cluttered wardrobe— leading to a mess. Cloth or plastic bags that can fit underneath your closets or bed can also be ideal for storing your seasonal apparel, decorations, and bedding. If you have the space, you can consider installing sideboards with drawers to store your items rather than leaving them scattered in the space. For your kids' toys, you can consider storing them in baskets, bedroom shelves, and toy chests.

  1. Donate some of your items

You can employ the 80/20 rule to declutter your home. The rule suggests that 80% of the time, we usually use 20% of the things we own. This rule tends to be true for your items like computers, books, electronics, video games, toys, and DVDs. The goal here is to donate or get rid of the items you don't use 80% of the time to create more space in your home. While this may seem tricky, asking yourself some simple questions can help you decide which item to toss or keep. For instance: Does the item fit? Has it been used for the past year, or is it damaged, torn, or faded? Your answers to these questions should help you decide whether to keep or get rid of an item since there is a chance you want to keep items of sentimental value.
