Disney On Ice‏: It was pretty cool!

You will not find a better value for money show this year!

This weekend i got the chance to take my two nieces to see the hottest show on ice; Disney On Ice - Magical Ice Festival at the First Direct Arena in Leeds.

They are both completely obsessed with Disney and i myself have sat through several viewing of Aladdin, Frozen and the Little Mermaid in recent weeks on baby sitting duty in preperation for the show.

If you don't already know what the show is about or where you can watch it then you need to read the blog post i published last week here.

We headed over to the show early as the girl didn't want to be late! As you can see from the photos they had to go dressed as Disney Princess, likewise many other families were dressed up which made it a great fun, warm and friendly environment to walk into.

The First Direct Arena is a great venue and one that children can also appreciate; with plenty of space, facilities and food/drink/toy outlets around every corner. There were some great and unique branded gifts on offer, so for those thinking about attending a show in the near future i would recommend taking some extra money to treat the kids like i did (Good Uncle award 2015).

Children were singing at the box office and in the queues which was super cute and i even laid eyes upon a dad who had also dressed as Elsa.

Our seats were brilliant, you could see everything and the family friendly vibe continued with everybody happy to let their children sing, dance, move and shout throughout the show; making it super easy to relax and get about for toilet breaks.

As soon as the lights dimmed and the show began the crowd, my nieces and even i were locked into the action and in awe of the special effects, quality of the performances and the revolving sets.

It's hard not to give anything away when writing a review but the one bit that stood out to me the most was in one one of the Frozen scenes. Sevn (the reindeer) was brilliant, he was almost real and the girls were definitely fooled!

Frozen scenes got the biggest cheers and sing-along moments, the entire crowd were engulfed in a magnificent performance of "Let it go".

The arena's roof was nearly taken off and as you can imagine even man, women, child, actor and employee were giving it their all throughout the song. The memory of having everyone signing-along to one of the most iconic Disney songs will stay with me for a long time.

Whilst Frozen was the biggest hit of the night it was great to see the Little Mermaid with a show-stopping performance by Sebastian as he breaks out of his shell to make waves with Ariel “Under The Sea!”

Rapunzel, Beauty and the Beast as the Beast, Disney Royalty Minnie and Mickey Mouse were all out with their own show stoppers. When you sit back and thinking about how well the show tells each and every characters story... on ice... then you can quickly build up an understanding of how much efforts and skill goes into each and every show each and every day.

I was really impressed, even overwhelmed by how much the girls liked it. I personally wasn't expecting to be entertained, but i was and i loved it and for those parents thinking "should i take my kids to see Disney on Ice?" just think back to your childhood and how you felt about your favourite Disney characters. This show definitely had a sense of nostalgia for me and a non-stop wheel of fun and singing for the little ones.

I have not been to a better show/event this year! The crowd added that extra little something that made the day magical. I would go see the show again next week if i could!

  1. Thank you uncle Karl, the girls loved the day out and have not stopped talking or singing all the songs over and over again (need some more paracetamol and new earplugs, Bill coming your way) 😀 hopefully there can do a Frozen On Ice next year !!! My idea.
