The New Year is a time to reflect on the changes we want or
need to make. This year has been the most incredible year of life; a new home and
the joy of raising my first child making for an unforgettable and yes, exhausting
year.
Whilst I can happily reflect on an all-round good year as I sit
in front of the computer today I can think of three things, three things that
right now I want to achieve or experience in the coming year.
Most of them are not to better to myself like others usually commit to; mine are simple but close to my heart. Here are my three New Year’s Resolutions
Raise money for a Charity
Over the past few years I have done more than my fair-share
of fund raising; Tough Muddder, the Leeds Half Marathon and attending charity
events.
I want to raise money for Multiple Sclerosis Society; my dad
suffers with the neurological condition which affects around 100,000 people in
the UK. I want to raise as much money as I possibly can to help families living
with MS have a happier and better live.
So in 2015 I vow
to do something amazing for charity. I could run naked in the streets,
parachuting, the three peaks challenge or a city rally?
Play more golf
I love golf – now that I have a son it would be fair to say
that I have struggled to hit the fairways as often as I would have liked in
2014. My ligament injury also put me out of action and now that I have
recovered and can walk and run again I want to start the year with golf.
Then every week or two commit to playing at least once. It
is easier in the lighter months as I can play after work. I write for the
Saturday Golfer Blog and I want to contribute more and more content to that in
the golfing season.
I spent a considerable amount of money on my Callaway clubs
so I “need” to play. So I vow to play golf at least twice a month. Playing more
regularly will hopefully help me iron out some of the poor shots I have been
making recently – fingers crossed.
Less phone, more play
Whilst I am not often glued to my phone I seem to find
myself tweeting or playing games instead of reading the hundreds of books I have
collected over the years. I love Twitter but I could spend more time “bettering
myself” through reading and learning in 2015.
So I vow to spend
less time on my phone and more time with my books and learning my coding.
Have you thought about your New Year’s Resolutions yet?
