I want Theodore to leave a stocking at the end of his bed like i did. Waking up to a stocking full of mini and novelty gifts was amazing and it set me up for the excitement ahead. These gifts kept us busy until mum and dad woke up and kept us out of trouble.
We didn't open our presents from our friends and family until we had our Christmas dinner. We opened and played with the gifts my parents/Santa in the morning after a big old English breakfast. As everyone did we also left a carrot, glass of milk and mince pie out on the side for Santa and the reindeer.
Every other year we have the grandparents stay with us, they loved Christmas and in this day and age keeping my loved ones close is a tradition not only me, but everyone should be following.
This time last year Ted was born, read my introduction to fatherhood here
Do you have any family traditions?

Thanks for the follow on twitter. (returned)
ReplyDeleteGreat to find a blog such as yours, always nice to read about different perspectives.
I recently did a similar post to this and brought back many memories of my childhood. However I do believe that your last paragraph is truly what the season is about.. and that is family and sharing it with loved ones. :)

Both my husband and I having grown up in France we were used to celebrating Christmas on Christmas Eve and opening the presents after midnight. But we've created our own traditions for our family and our English home! We open one present when getting up on Christmas morning, have a breakfast of panettone and custard, go to church and come back to open the rest of the present while the goose finishes to cook in the oven :)
