Harrogate’s 1940’s Day

On the 28^th of June we headed over to the annual 1940’s day in Valley Gardens.

Over 27,000 people attended the event and as we walked in the gardens we were greeted by a uniformed marching band, you won’t get that anywhere else in Yorkshire.

The gardens were backed with War time vehicles and motorbikes, music, food, gifts and products and more importantly clothes; people were dressed up in a wide range of attire.

Early in the morning Major Swing got everyone in the mood for dancing, the official opening was led by the Major of Harrogate Jim Clark. More music followed and everyone was dancing to old war time classics. The day was filled with fun, food and dancing!

The icing on the cake was the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Spitfire and Hurricane Flypast! I took some pictures of the day to give all you visitors a taste of the day.
