4 things you realise once you're ill.

For those of you that don't know already, I was struck down by the all-might flu a few weeks ago. It was bad; fever, shakes muscle-aches, severe head-aches, snooty nose and tiredness. It has been hell and as it's infectious the girl friend and new born have been staying out the house in a bid to avoid catch it.

I am generally not am ill person, I'm fit and healthy. But recently since the baby have arrived my immune system has been destroyed by the lack of sleep and rest I have been getting. Here are five things I learned from being on my sick bed:

Being ill is boring

Whilst I have only been ill for three days it seems like a life-time. You can't rely do much with the flu other than lay in your bed recovering. You only have your TV and I-pad to keep you entertained which is great for a few hours until you have caught-up with the program's you missed from last week.

Even though I got chance to start watching new seasons of my favorite shows there ways only so many hours I could sit watching them for before I switched off. I did however download a few apps which kept me entertained for a few more hours. Reading was out of the questions as my head was pounding and slept so much I couldn't sleep anymore!

All in all when your off work dealing with the illness and serve bored are the two hardest things and I don't want anyway to have to be this bored!

You respect single parents a million times more

Looking after a newborn and being ill is impossible, i honestly do not understand how single parents can do it, or how they do it. Taking care of a newborn isn't overly difficult on a day to basis but when your down and out on your sick bed the basic of tasks can be a struggle.

I take my hat off to those who had just had to man up and cope, not having anyone to rely on when sickness strikes - salute you!

Drugs don't work

Ibuprofen, head-aches tablets, vix, nasal-spray, cough medicine, lozenges... none of them help at all when you have flu. After taking all of the previous for nearly a week now i can say without doubt they haven't helped me one little bit. The doctor might as well write every folk up with a placebo drugs are most of the medication purchased over the counter is nearly useless and crazy expensive!

You don't eat normally

The last thing you need is the food you have everyday, i crazed either Mac Donald's or a big salad. Besides downing tins of tomato soup like water and bread and butter i was dreaming of the foods i didn't usually have. I think comfort food will always appeal to those as sick as a cat because they need a pick me up, a little consuming to help them feel content!

As you do not eat what you usually eat i find that you have less energy, i know i did. Maybe there should be a rule were you get forced to eat the same foods as usually so your body isn't hit with another shock after another.
